let’s talk about money

Let's stop saying that salary conversations are hard. That it's difficult to ask for a raise. That it's uncomfortable to have these conversations with our bosses. It's not actually hard. It's just words, statements, requests.

What IS often difficult about these types of conversations is having the confidence to believe that we are worthy of what we're asking for. How could you possibly ask for more money if you don’t fundamentally believe that you are WORTH IT?

So how do we make money conversations EASY?

1) Celebrate your accomplishments! Often, we focus on the moments that don't go exactly right in our day. Instead, try focusing - every single day - on all of the things you did well! Celebrate how great you really are at the job you are paid to do.

2) Get curious about what your employer needs from you. What actually is the job you are paid to do? What are the unspoken/unwritten parts of your job you are being paid (or not being paid) to do? Document all of it. Write it out. Create the physical manifestation of your awesomeness in your role - on paper.

3) Know that nobody will ever have your back as much as you do, when you do. Become your own biggest advocate, your biggest cheerleader, your biggest fan!

4) Be brave. You will never know unless you ask. Usually, the worst thing that can happen from asking is being told "no." And in all reality, being told no is not the end of the world. It's just a new challenge to get reeeeeally curious about!

Lastly, if you feel like 1,2,3 or 4 are a bridge too far right now, hire a coach to support you in building the stepping stones to the place where all of it is easy! You've got this!
