well-being is the seat of your power

I was in a Zoom room with a few other brilliant coaches a few months ago, and one of them said this. It immediately went on a sticky note and up on my office wall.

When I think about what this statement means to me, it brings me to a conversation about energy flow. I’m a firm believer that energy moves between and among people. It’s the foundation of my understanding of spirituality. For me, part of that is: energy in – energy out.

When you source yourself with the things that fill you up, you have that energy to give, whether that’s to the people in your life, your projects, anywhere you choose to focus it.

Without that sourcing, we end up giving little to no positive energy. Sometimes that presents itself as frazzled, stressed, overwhelmed, tired, grumpy, snippy, etc. It’s not a place of power. It’s not a place of BEING who we want to be in the world.

Parents, I’m talking to you too! Filling up your own bucket is just as important (if not more so) than filling your kids’ buckets. And when you find a way to fill BOTH your bucket and your kids’ buckets at the same time – WOW! It’s a win-win!

So, how do we source? For me, sometimes it’s a bit of time alone, reading, face-masking, sitting in the sun, gardening. Sometimes it’s a wine night with a close girlfriend or a quick dance party to come back to center. And when I'm looking for a win-win, sometimes that's a competitive game of air hockey or a round of chess with a kiddo.

It’s so important to figure out your energy sourcing so that you have what you need to bring your utmost power to the world. And well-being and sourcing looks different for each of us!

So, what’s your sourcing go-to? Let me know in the comments!
